Who Is Coming Through the Door?

News Stories.pngWednesday 21 October 2026 11:54

Please come in. The door is open. There’s coffee on the table, people are arriving, and there are conversations happening about Jesus. Every Saturday, Lemuel and Rachel open their home to their church family — and to people who are still searching. Come and meet some of them.

Every Saturday morning we meet in our home for a small group. We start with tea, coffee and some food, then an icebreaker and worship. We use the sermon from Sunday as our focus and talk about how we can put it into practice. Our vision is to train leaders and, when there are enough people, multiply the group. We have already multiplied the group once.

Our small group is the main place where we provide pastoral support and care for the members of our church. At the same time, it has an evangelistic purpose. We pray for our non-Christian friends and invite them to come. It is inspiring to see God moving in their lives. On this news story, we'd like to introduce you to some of them.

Meet T. & C.

For several months now, our friend T. and her daughters have been coming. Recently, T.’s non-Christian boyfriend, C., decided to start coming as well. He is interested and has lots of questions. In our most recent meeting, it was particularly encouraging to see how engaged he was.

Then there is J.

J. is 26 and was a teenager in the church when we first arrived. Actually, he was one of those who caused the most disruptions in the youth meetings!

Recently, J. asked if he could meet with me. He told me that he wanted to sort his life out with God, come back to church, and start attending our small group. What a change! Since then, J. has been very open and willing to share, and he has connected really well with C. and T. It has been great to see.

Seeing the fruit

Last year, four people from our small group were baptised, and one person gave their life to Jesus. This year, two people have given their lives to Jesus, including T. Several non-Christians also visit from time to time, and we are especially waiting and praying for C. as he considers whether to follow Jesus.

There are challenges too. Because of the lack of job security, some people move to other parts of Spain or change jobs and can no longer attend the group. But we continue to pray, invite people in and make disciples.

Please pray for our home group — for those who are growing in their faith, for those who are searching and asking questions, and especially for C. Pray that God will continue to work in the lives of the people who come through our door.
