Are you a Young Adult and wondering what’s next?
This could be your chance to invest a year (or more) in God’s mission, grow in your faith, and discern your future.
Who we are
East Glasgow Church is an Anglican church plant in the East End of Glasgow. It’s a community marked by diversity, resilience, and need — but very little gospel witness. Led by ECM missionaries, our church has a heart to see people trained in ministry and sent out in mission.
Why consider this opportunity?
There are lots of “gap year” or “graduate trainee” schemes out there. Here’s why this one might be a great fit for you:
-
Post-Christian mission, in English. Get hands-on experience of church planting in a European city where Christianity has faded — but without the barrier of learning a new language.
-
A supportive network. You’ll be part of a wider group of churches that regularly host and mentor ministry trainees, so you won’t be doing this alone.
-
Theological training. Alongside practical ministry, you’ll have the option of supplementing your time with classroom theological study in Glasgow (depending on visa conditions).
What you could be involved in:
Relational evangelism and discipleship
-
Children’s and youth ministry
-
Community outreach and mercy ministries
-
Music and worship
-
Hospitality and practical support
-
ESL support for migrants
Who we’re looking for:
Recent graduates or young adults exploring mission or ministry
-
Followers of Jesus with a servant heart
-
Team players who are flexible, open, and willing to learn
-
People ready to step into an urban, cross-cultural setting
What to expect:
This isn’t just about tasks — it’s about formation. You’ll grow through ministry experience, mentoring, and theological input, while making a tangible difference in people’s lives. It won’t always be easy, but it will be deeply rewarding. You'll be responsible for raising prayer and financial support, and there will be plenty of support to help you with that.
