Team Members for Pioneer Church Plant in University Area
- Long term
- University Jaume 1 neighbourhood, Castellón
We are a pioneering church plant in a university district. We aim to encourage people towards a personal living relationship with Jesus through sharing our lives and telling them about Him. We are making contacts, friends and a reputation in the neighbourhood. We have many opportunities through the Spaniards' desire to improve their English. We have a fortnightly homegroup in Spanish which is an embryonic church. But we long for more, like-minded people to join the team.
The area of Castellón situated on the east coast of Spain, has had a number of ECM teams involved in church planting. The vision is to expand this to neighbouring villages and towns. Work already exists in Alcora which can help to support pioneering work in the University Jaume I neighbourhood of Castellón. Initial work in building relationships within the community has begun but like-minded, relational team members are needed. Our current plans include: • Regular UJI team meetings • Continuing our fortnightly Spanish-speaking homegroup or turning it into a “Discovering Christianity” course for our Spanish enquirers • Hosting an English-speaking group, particularly aimed at International (Christian) Students • Continuing English-learning activities within the neighbourhood and with at least a sub-set of students • Socials to mix Spaniards keen to improve their English with International (Christian) students. • A number of one-off, seed-sowing events. • Hosting visiting prayer teams
You have the abilities to work as a pioneer, being flexible and outward-looking. You have completed a suitable theological education and can work in trans-cultural teams. You have a multicultural and open mindset, which enables you to relate to a great variety of people and not be tied to traditions with respect to the 'church' or a building. You are focused on building relationships and friendships. You are open to using the gifts of the Holy Spirit. You speak Spanish or are willing to learn to speak the language. The ability to speak the Valencian dialect is an advantage. You are currently an active member of your church.
